New York Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson has undergone surgery to repair an injury to his left wrist, hand and forearm, several national outlets reported Tuesday.

SNY’s Ian Begley, ESPN’s Shams Charania and the New York Post’s Stefan Bondy all confirmed the procedure, which was first noted by Knicks Fan TV. Brunson is expected to spend much of the offseason in rehabilitation.

Bondy placed the recovery window at roughly six to eight weeks, while Begley said it would take at least two months. Charania added that the 29-year-old guard should be cleared for basketball activity later in the summer, an indication his status for opening night is not currently in doubt.

Brunson averaged 26.0 points, 6.8 assists and 3.3 rebounds in 35.0 minutes over 74 regular-season games in 2025-26. He boosted his scoring to 28.4 points per game in the playoffs, leading New York to its first NBA championship since 1973 and earning Finals MVP honors after pouring in 45 points in the decisive Game 5.

If Brunson is limited when the season begins, head coach Tom Thibodeau could lean more heavily on Miles McBride, José Alvarado and rookie Tyler Kolek to handle backcourt minutes.
