Restricted free agent center Quinten Post is expected to sign a three-year, $30 million offer sheet with the Memphis Grizzlies, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The contract will be funded through Memphis’ $15 million non-taxpayer mid-level exception. If Post finalizes the document by 12:00 p.m. ET on Monday, the Golden State Warriors will have until 11:59 p.m. ET Tuesday to decide whether to match and retain the 7-footer.
Golden State has been preparing for an offer sheet, reports Jake Fischer of The Stein Line. While the Warriors value Post as a reserve center, sources told ESPN’s Anthony Slater the franchise may deem the new figure too costly as it works around a likely second-apron hard cap, negotiates a new contract with Draymond Green, and continues its pursuit of LeBron James.
Post became a restricted free agent last week when the Warriors extended a $2.65 million qualifying offer. Fischer and Marc Stein reported soon after that outside interest could materialize in an offer sheet.
Offer sheets of this size have been uncommon in recent seasons. ESPN’s Bobby Marks notes that the last deal exceeding $5 million annually was Matisse Thybulle’s 2023 pact with Dallas, and no offer sheet has gone unmatched since Bogdan Bogdanovic left Sacramento for Atlanta in 2020.
Selected 52nd overall in the 2024 draft, Post averaged 7.7 points and 4.0 rebounds across 67 games (35 starts) for Golden State this year, shooting 44 percent from the field and 33.6 percent from three. Should the Warriors decline to match, he would slot in as a floor-spacer behind Zach Edey on a Memphis frontcourt that already includes newcomers Isaiah Stewart, Cameron Boozer, Karim Lopez, and GG Jackson II.
