The Houston Rockets intend to keep forward Tari Eason from reaching unrestricted free agency, league sources told Yahoo Sports. The team is expected to extend an $8 million qualifying offer to the 24-year-old, which would make him a restricted free agent and give Houston the right to match any outside offer.
Eason, selected 17th overall in the 2022 NBA Draft, averaged 10.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.2 steals across 60 games last season, starting 34 times.
Denver moves to retain Spencer Jones
The Denver Nuggets are also preparing to issue a qualifying offer, planning to present forward Spencer Jones with a $2.65 million deal, according to HoopsHype. Jones, 25, became a regular in Denver’s rotation during the injury-plagued 2025-26 campaign, logging 5.5 points and 3.3 rebounds while shooting 39.6 percent from three-point range in 64 appearances.
Tendering the offers would allow both franchises to match any contracts the players receive once free agency opens.
