League sources maintain that the Cleveland Cavaliers have no intention of trading forward Evan Mobley, despite continued speculation linking the 21-year-old to Boston Celtics All-Star guard Jaylen Brown.

According to multiple people familiar with the organization’s thinking, Cleveland’s position has not wavered throughout the offseason. Executives from other franchises keep inquiring, but the Cavaliers have shown “little interest” in parting with the third-year big man, sources told Hoops Wire.

Kurt Helin of NBC Sports reported that league personnel are curious whether Cleveland would view Brown differently from Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, for whom the Cavaliers also declined to engage in trade talks. “Cleveland wouldn’t trade Evan Mobley for Giannis Antetokounmpo, but would they feel differently about Jaylen Brown?” Helin wrote, adding that the Cavaliers “don’t seem into the idea—at least not yet.”

Earlier this week, Chris Mannix of NBC Sports Boston noted that Mobley’s name had surfaced in conversations as Boston evaluates potential scenarios for Brown, whose contract situation has generated interest from teams such as the Portland Trail Blazers, Detroit Pistons and Atlanta Hawks.

Although front offices routinely listen to inquiries, league insiders emphasize that listening is not the same as negotiating. To date, there is no indication Cleveland has made Mobley available.
