The Los Angeles Clippers are behaving as if they plan to free up salary-cap room ahead of the 2026 offseason, according to Zach Lowe of The Ringer, speaking via RealGM.

“Someone who would know told me that the Clippers are telling, or behaving, I guess, as though they’re going to have cap space in the offseason,” Lowe said.

How the Clippers could create room

By declining team options on Brook Lopez, Bogdan Bogdanovic and Nicolas Batum and by renouncing the rights to selected free agents, the organization could unlock roughly $20 million in space.

Potential impact on star pursuits

Lowe noted that such flexibility could put Los Angeles in position to pursue LeBron James if he becomes available, though he emphasized that no deal is imminent.

Decision looming on Kawhi Leonard

The club also faces a major call on Kawhi Leonard. League expectations, Lowe said, are that the Clippers will either reach an extension with the forward or explore his trade value.

How aggressively the front office moves to create cap space is expected to be one of the key storylines of the upcoming summer.
