The Detroit Pistons have placed center Isaiah Stewart on the trade market, according to league sources cited by Sam Amick of The Athletic.
Stewart, 25, was a key reserve for Detroit’s 60-win squad in 2025/26. Appearing in 58 games with 13 starts, he averaged 10.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in 22.7 minutes. Opponents shot just 43.8% at the rim against him, the best figure in the NBA among players who logged at least 50 games and faced four or more attempts per game. He finished seventh in Sixth Man of the Year voting.
Detroit is expected to give backup center minutes to Paul Reed behind starter Jalen Duren next season. Reed outperformed Stewart during the final five contests of the team’s second-round playoff series against Cleveland, posting 11.4 points and 5.0 rebounds in 13.0 minutes per game, while Stewart’s role shrank to 7.4 minutes, 3.8 points and 1.6 rebounds.
Stewart is owed a guaranteed $15 million in 2026/27, and the club holds a $15 million option for 2027/28. He becomes eligible for an extension this offseason.
The Pistons are pursuing additional shooting and playmaking this summer. Stewart joins Caris LeVert ($14.8 million), Ron Holland ($9.1 million) and Marcus Sasser ($5.2 million) as players on mid-sized expiring or pseudo-expiring deals who could be included in future trades.
Amick confirms that Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves, projected to reach unrestricted free agency, and Oklahoma City Thunder wing Isaiah Joe are among Detroit’s targets.
