Wizards
League executives continue to believe Trae Young will remain in Washington, despite speculation linking the four-time All-Star to other backcourts. HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto reports that Young is enthusiastic about his new chapter with the Wizards and hopes for a long-term stay. Front-office expectations point toward the guard and the franchise eventually finalizing a multiyear agreement. Washington also owns the No. 1 overall pick in next week’s draft, positioning the club for one of its most significant off-seasons in years.
Hornets
Charlotte is still looking for help in the middle. While the Hornets have been tied to Sacramento’s Domantas Sabonis, Jake Fischer of The Stein Line notes that the team is reluctant to include either of its first-round picks—Nos. 14 and 18—in any potential deal. Brooklyn center Nic Claxton is another target, according to Scotto. One scenario under consideration is a sign-and-trade involving unrestricted free-agent guard Coby White, who is expected to draw strong league-wide interest. The Nets have previously shown interest in White.
Pelicans
New Orleans is actively seeking a path back into the first round. Fischer reports that the Pelicans are evaluating trade options to secure a first-round selection after previous deals left them with only the No. 58 pick. Team sources indicate the front office may have a specific prospect in mind and could approach clubs drafting later in the first round if a move into the lottery proves too expensive. Entering draft night with just one pick is not viewed as an acceptable outcome in New Orleans.
