Report: Antetokounmpo Still Favors Heat, Outcome Remains Uncertain

Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo continues to view the Miami Heat as his preferred destination should he be traded, according to a brief update shared late Monday by Associated Press NBA writer Tim Reynolds.

Reynolds wrote on social media that Antetokounmpo “still wants to be in Miami” if he exits Milwaukee, but added that the two-time MVP “doesn’t know how this thing is going to end up.”

The update echoes weeks of speculation linking the Heat to the seven-time All-Star while also underscoring the uncertainty surrounding any potential deal.

Celtics Remain in the Mix

Boston continues to monitor the situation, league sources told multiple outlets in recent days. Reports indicate the Celtics have examined what a trade package for Antetokounmpo might entail, though a realistic offer would likely have to feature All-NBA wing Jaylen Brown—an idea that has divided opinion inside and outside the organization.

Antetokounmpo, 28, would immediately shift the championship landscape for any team acquiring him. Brown, 26, is coming off one of the best seasons of his career, creating a difficult calculus for Boston as talks—or the mere possibility of talks—linger.

Alongside Miami and Boston, “several other interested teams” are monitoring Antetokounmpo’s status, according to league insiders. For now, no clear frontrunner has emerged, and the Bucks have not signaled a decision on moving their franchise cornerstone.

With free agency and trade discussions dominating the NBA offseason, how Antetokounmpo’s future unfolds remains an open question.
