Report: Timberwolves Emerge as Dark-Horse Suitor for Giannis Antetokounmpo

The Miami Heat and Boston Celtics have dominated Giannis Antetokounmpo trade chatter, but a new name may be entering the picture. Veteran Milwaukee journalist Gery Woelfel posted on X that a current NBA coach views the Minnesota Timberwolves as a “sleeper” candidate to land the Milwaukee Bucks star.

According to Woelfel, Minnesota is open to discussing any player on its roster except Anthony Edwards as part of a potential package. The club holds only the No. 28 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, but team president Tim Connelly is reputed for aggressive roster moves.

ESPN recently reported that Connelly intends to be active this offseason following the Timberwolves’ second-round playoff exit. While no formal negotiations with Milwaukee have been confirmed and talks remain in the speculative stage, Woelfel’s post suggests Minnesota could be monitoring Antetokounmpo’s situation from afar.

For now, league observers still peg the Heat and Celtics as the likeliest destinations should the two-time MVP become available. Even so, at least one coach believes the Timberwolves are quietly positioning themselves to make a run if Milwaukee entertains offers.
