June — San Antonio, TX. Warriors forward and ESPN Finals analyst Draymond Green said Spurs center Victor Wembanyama “probably should be suspended” for his postseason flagrant fouls, adding that the NBA has “shown a lot of grace” to the 22-year-old rookie.

Speaking on the latest episode of “The Draymond Green Show,” the four-time champion emphasized he does not like seeing playoff series decided by disciplinary rulings but believes Wembanyama’s actions merit consideration.

“I’m not one that wants to see series decided by suspensions. That’s not good for anyone,” Green said. “He’s been shown a lot of grace. He probably should be suspended at some point — or should have been already — but he’s been shown a lot of grace.”

Wembanyama is one flagrant-foul point away from an automatic one-game ban. He received a flagrant 1 for elbowing Karl-Anthony Towns in the chin during Game 4, and the league opted against further discipline after he shoved Jalen Brunson in Game 3.

Green, suspended six times in his own career—including Game 5 of the 2016 NBA Finals—said the league prefers to keep marquee players on the floor. “I wish the NBA would just come out and say, ‘In most cases, this probably should be a suspension, but it’s not because we want our best in the NBA Finals,’ and that’s the way it should be,” he added.

Wembanyama Mentors Rookie Carter Bryant

First-year forward Carter Bryant credited Wembanyama for helping him adjust to NBA life. “Me and Vic sit next to each other on the plane, so we’ve had a ton of conversations—easy and hard,” Bryant said. “Sometimes you need a brother to lean on… We’ve both been there for each other. I’m super grateful for Vic.”

Dylan Harper’s Surge, Coaching Decisions

Rookie guard Dylan Harper is averaging 16.3 points off the bench in the Finals and has outperformed veteran De’Aaron Fox, according to NBA.com. Despite Harper’s production, head coach Mitch Johnson continues to favor Fox’s experience in late-game situations.

Johnson said a lack of focus in the third quarter of Game 4 paved the way for New York’s comeback. “There were a lot of things we did where it felt like we could have put our energy in the right spots,” he told reporters. “We weren’t as connected and disciplined as we should have been.”
