New York Knicks head coach Mike Brown voiced frustration over the free-throw differential in the team’s Game 3 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night.
Speaking with reporters at the Frost Bank Center shortly after the final buzzer, Brown said the disparity at the foul line played a decisive role in the outcome. “It’s hard to win when the other team lives at the line and we don’t,” he noted, declining to elaborate further on specific officiating decisions.
The Knicks now trail 2-1 in the best-of-seven first-round series, with Game 4 scheduled for Sunday in San Antonio. Brown said his focus is on making adjustments but added that he expects a “more balanced whistle” moving forward.
Neither Brown nor the NBA has announced any formal complaint about the officiating, and league policy prohibits coaches from publicly criticizing referees without potential fines.
