The Utah Jazz waived guard Jaden Springer on Monday, moving before the July 25 date that would have partially guaranteed his 2024-25 salary.

Springer’s contract called for a jump from $0 in guarantees to $400,000 on Thursday. Remaining with the team through opening night would have triggered another $600,000, ESPN’s Bobby Marks reported.

Journey to Utah

Boston traded Springer and a future second-round pick to the Houston Rockets at February’s deadline. Houston released the former first-round selection, and he signed with Utah after clearing waivers.

The 6-foot-4 guard initially joined the Jazz on a 10-day deal and later agreed to a three-year contract in March. Only the first season was guaranteed, and the agreement carries a $2.66 million team option for 2026-27.

Production With Celtics and Jazz

Springer appeared in 26 games for Boston last season, averaging 1.7 points in 5.4 minutes per game. After arriving in Salt Lake City, he played 17 contests (two starts), recording 3.8 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists across 13.2 minutes while shooting 41.1 percent from the floor.

His season-high with Utah came on March 31 at Charlotte, where he scored 11 points in a 110-106 loss.

Career Numbers

Through 110 regular-season games (six starts), the 22-year-old owns career averages of 2.9 points and 1.4 rebounds in 8.8 minutes, shooting .409 from the field, .238 from three-point range and .773 at the foul line.

Roster Impact

With Monday’s move, Utah lists 15 players on standard contracts, according to Spotrac.
