Veteran wing Mikal Bridges is urging the New York Knicks to stay locked in despite owning a 2–0 advantage over the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals.
Knicks
Bridges, who experienced Phoenix’s 2021 collapse after the Suns opened that series with two wins, delivered a brief reminder to his current teammates following Sunday’s victory. “0-0, man. Keep playing,” he said on ESPN’s “Inside the NBA,” adding that the roster should use the upcoming two-day break to rest and prepare for Game 3.
The 27-year-old has spearheaded New York’s defense through two games. Per the New York Daily News, he has limited Sacramento’s De’Aaron Fox to 0-for-4 shooting and San Antonio rookie Stephon Castle to 1-for-7 when guarding them directly.
Spurs
San Antonio expects to be at full strength for Wednesday’s matchup. Castle said the left foot he twisted after landing on Bridges late in Game 2 is “a lot better than I thought it would initially,” noting he woke up Monday “actually feeling really good.”
Castle’s perimeter defense has been vital for the Spurs; the first-year guard has held Knicks star Jalen Brunson to 2-for-10 from the field as his primary assignment. No Spurs appeared on Monday’s injury report.
Suns
In Phoenix, forward Rasheer Fleming plans an all-around offseason tune-up after a promising rookie campaign. Selected 31st overall in the 2025 draft, the 6-foot-9 swingman told the Arizona Republic he is concentrating on ball-handling, decision-making and shooting. Fleming also confirmed he will suit up for Summer League, adding that he now has a clearer idea of what to expect in his second year: “Last year, I wasn’t really sure what to expect. This year, it’s going to be really good.”
