Jalen Brunson says $7,500 is worth it only for WrestleMania, not NBA Finals

With resale prices for the Knicks’ first NBA Finals home games in more than two decades soaring past $7,500 per seat, point guard Jalen Brunson said there is just one occasion that would prompt him to pay that kind of money out of his own pocket: WrestleMania.
Brunson made the remark Tuesday, one day after several secondary-market platforms began listing lower-bowl seats at Madison Square Garden for as much as $7,500 ahead of Game 3 and Game 4 of the Finals. Upper-level tickets were also climbing, with some offers topping $3,000.
Asked whether he would ever spend that sum for a sporting event, Brunson quickly dismissed the idea—unless professional wrestling’s annual showcase was involved. “That’s the only thing I’d shell out $7,500 for,” he told reporters after practice. “Otherwise, no chance.”
The 29-year-old guard, who grew up a devoted WWE fan, attended WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia during the Knicks’ 2025 offseason. He said the atmosphere convinced him it would be the only entertainment experience worth such a steep price tag.
While Brunson will be on the floor rather than in the stands when the Finals shift to New York, thousands of fans are searching for affordable seats. According to ticket-tracker TickPick, the current get-in price for Game 3 is roughly $1,950—triple the opening figure the day the Knicks clinched their Finals berth.
New York last appeared in the NBA Finals in 1999, when the average face value for a Finals ticket at the Garden was $125. Adjusted for inflation, that figure would be about $230 today—less than one-thirtieth of the going resale rate for comparable seats this year.
