Clippers May Evaluate Trade Scenarios for Kawhi Leonard During Off-Season

The Los Angeles Clippers are expected to at least gauge the trade market for Kawhi Leonard once the NBA offseason begins, according to a report by Sean Deveney of Heavy Sports.

Leonard, 34, is entering the final year of his contract. While the organization has repeatedly stated that it intends to keep the All-NBA forward, league sources told Heavy Sports that basic roster logic points to exploring his value, especially with the Clippers holding the No. 5 pick in next month’s draft.

When healthy, Leonard remains one of the league’s premier two-way players and the focal point of Los Angeles’s championship aspirations. However, recurring injuries and consecutive early playoff exits have prompted some executives around the NBA to wonder if the franchise will consider a broader roster reset.

The Clippers’ core of Leonard, Paul George and other established veterans has yet to deliver the consistent postseason success anticipated when the group was assembled. With a top-five draft selection providing a potential bridge to the future, front-office discussions are expected to balance immediate competitiveness against long-term planning.

There is no indication a trade is imminent, but multiple league figures believe Los Angeles will at least review all major options before the 2024–25 season.
