New York Knicks guard Landry Shamet was momentarily left in the dark when the studio lights appeared to shut off during a live ESPN interview on May 26, 2026, shortly after the Knicks completed a playoff sweep.
Video of the segment shows Shamet speaking to an ESPN host when the set’s lighting suddenly dropped, leaving only faint back-lighting visible. Shamet glanced upward and paused mid-sentence as the broadcast feed quickly cut to a different camera angle. Illumination was restored within seconds, and the conversation resumed without further interruption.
Neither ESPN nor the Knicks immediately commented on the cause of the brief outage. The incident occurred hours after New York secured its four-game series victory, moving on to the next round of the postseason.
The Knicks acquired Shamet earlier this season to bolster their perimeter shooting. The 29-year-old averaged double-digit scoring in the series and was discussing the team’s performance when the lights failed.
