Lexington, Ky., May 24, 2026 — Kentucky freshman center Malachi Moreno, projected as the No. 36 pick in next month’s NBA draft, announced Sunday he will return to the Wildcats for the 2026-27 season.
Moreno revealed his decision on social media, withdrawing his name before next week’s NCAA deadline for early entrants to stay in the draft.
The 7-foot big man averaged 7.8 points and 6.3 rebounds while starting 30 games last season. His performance earned him a spot on the All-SEC Freshman Team.
Moreno’s return bolsters head coach Mark Pope’s roster after Kentucky exited in the second round of last season’s NCAA men’s tournament.
