Warriors Seen as Long-Shot Destination for Giannis Antetokounmpo

The Golden State Warriors are not considered leading contenders to land Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo if the two-time MVP ever becomes available, according to a report from Hoops Wire.

The outlet, citing league sources, stated that Golden State is “not near the front of the line” of potential suitors. While speculation about Antetokounmpo’s future has circulated around the NBA, the report suggests several other franchises currently possess stronger positions in any prospective pursuit.

No specific timeline or trade framework was mentioned, and the Bucks have given no indication they intend to move their franchise centerpiece. Antetokounmpo, 29, averaged 30.4 points, 11.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists last season and is under contract through 2025-26 with a player option for 2026-27.

Golden State, coming off a disappointing finish to the 2023-24 campaign, remains focused on roster improvements but is viewed as an underdog in any sweepstakes for the seven-time All-Star.
