NEW YORK — Former NBA forward Metta World Peace said in an exclusive May 21 interview that he expects point guard Jalen Brunson to guide the New York Knicks to the championship opportunity the ex-player never had a chance to pursue during his own time in the league.
World Peace, who won a title elsewhere in his career, told the New York Post he sees Brunson as the catalyst capable of ending the franchise’s long title drought. He expressed confidence that the 27-year-old guard’s leadership and on-court poise position the Knicks for “glory” in the seasons ahead.
The retired star added that circumstances prevented him from chasing similar success, but he believes the current roster, anchored by Brunson, is built to contend for the highest honors.
