Former Portland Trail Blazers head coach Terry Stotts has made it clear he wants another shot on the Rose City bench.

Speaking with longtime Oregon journalist Dwight Jaynes, Stotts said he “would love to come back to the Blazers and Portland,” adding that his representative has already contacted the organization about the vacancy.

Stotts, 66, guided Portland from 2012 to 2021 and ranks among the most successful coaches in franchise history. Over the past two seasons he has served as a lead assistant with the Golden State Warriors, staying active in the league while waiting for a new opportunity.

The Trail Blazers are casting a broad net as they search for Chauncey Billups’ replacement. According to Marc Stein of The Stein Line, Minnesota Timberwolves assistant Micah Nori is also on Portland’s list of candidates.

Stotts offers the front office a familiar face with nearly a decade of experience in the building. Whether the organization reciprocates that interest remains to be seen.
