The Cleveland Cavaliers head to the locker room up 64–47 on the Detroit Pistons at halftime of Sunday’s Game 7 at Little Caesars Arena.
Cleveland delivered what may have been its most complete first half of the season, combining tight defense with efficient offense and just a handful of turnovers. The visitors controlled the tempo from the opening tip and never trailed in the first two quarters.
Guard Donovan Mitchell orchestrated the attack by repeatedly penetrating the lane and finding teammates for easy baskets. Centers Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley capitalized on those passes with several dunks, forcing Detroit’s defense out of position.
The Cavaliers also received a boost from reserve guard Sam Merrill, whose outside shooting provided timely scoring from the perimeter.
With 24 minutes remaining, Cleveland needs only to maintain its current intensity on both ends to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.
