Hypothetical Deal Would Ship Stephen Curry to Boston for Jaylen Brown

A speculative trade scenario circulating this week pairs Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry with the Boston Celtics, sending All-Star wing Jaylen Brown to the Bay Area in return.
The proposal was outlined by Colin Kennedy of Boston’s 98.5 The Sports Hub, who noted that the players’ contracts are close enough in value to allow a straight swap under NBA salary-matching rules. While a one-for-one exchange would satisfy league guidelines, Kennedy suggested that additional assets would probably be required to complete any realistic agreement.
From Boston’s perspective, pairing Curry with Jayson Tatum would overhaul the team’s offense, promising improved floor spacing, shot creation and late-game execution after last season’s disappointing playoff exit.
Golden State, in theory, would gain a younger two-way cornerstone in Brown, a 26-year-old capable of carrying a larger scoring and defensive load as the franchise transitions to its next phase.
Despite the theoretical fit on both sides, the concept remains firmly in the “fantasy” category. The Warriors have consistently ruled out moving Curry, the four-time champion and two-time MVP who has spent his entire 14-year career with the organization.
No indication has emerged that either front office has engaged in formal discussions regarding the proposal.
