Nets forward Michael Porter Jr. believes Cam Thomas’ departure from Brooklyn had more to do with demeanor than ability. Speaking on the “Road Trippin Show” podcast, Porter said Thomas’ quiet personality and frustration with circumstances in Brooklyn ultimately hurt his standing with the team.
“There’s a lot more to the NBA and sticking around than just scoring,” Porter remarked, noting that Thomas often went through practices saying “like two words all day.” Porter added that while Thomas was not intentionally a poor teammate, the guard did not embrace the vocal leadership teams expect from a primary scoring option.
Thomas, a restricted free agent in 2025, accepted his one-year qualifying offer with the Nets in September after failing to secure a multiyear agreement. Brooklyn waived him in February; he then signed with Milwaukee, which released him in March. The 6-foot-3 guard averaged 22.9 points over 91 games across the 2023-25 seasons but posted career shooting marks of 43.5 percent from the field and 34.0 percent from three-point range.
Sixers improvise at center as Embiid rests
With Joel Embiid sidelined Wednesday by ankle and hip injuries, Philadelphia relied on a makeshift center rotation, according to reports from Adam Aaronson (PhillyVoice) and Gina Mizell (The Philadelphia Inquirer). Rookies Adem Bona and veteran Andre Drummond both battled foul trouble, forcing coach Nick Nurse to deploy forward Dominick Barlow, who had logged only 54 minutes in the first eight playoff contests. Embiid is listed as questionable for Game 3 on Friday.

Should their bid succeed, Mittal would become controlling owner while Grousbeck would take a smaller stake. Their roles with the Celtics are expected to remain unchanged.
