Michigan head coach Dusty May, fresh off guiding the Wolverines to a national championship, is drawing interest from multiple NBA teams, according to Front Office Sports.

The outlet reports that May is being considered for at least two current or potential vacancies: the Orlando Magic and, should Steve Kerr step away after this season, the Golden State Warriors. League sources told Front Office Sports this week that there is already mutual interest between May and Orlando.

May, 47, has compiled a 64-13 record over two seasons in Ann Arbor, quickly elevating Michigan back to national prominence while adeptly navigating the transfer portal and NIL era.

An additional wrinkle is May’s contract status. Athletic director Warde Manuel announced a new extension after the championship run, but May said on April 29 that the agreement remains unsigned. “I haven’t signed,” he told reporters, noting that final details are still being completed.

The unresolved contract has fueled speculation that May might at least entertain NBA overtures. While Michigan is considered one of college basketball’s marquee jobs, opportunities to coach at the professional level are limited.

With his profile at an all-time high, league executives are monitoring whether May will stay in the college ranks or explore the next step in his coaching career.
