HOUSTON — Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James leaned into a long-running internet gag on Friday night after crossing paths with Houston Texans defensive end Will Anderson Jr. during Game 6 of the first round of the 2026 NBA Playoffs at Toyota Center.
Anderson, frequently compared to James’ son Bronny because of their striking resemblance, was seated courtside for the Lakers’ 108-101 series-clinching win over the Houston Rockets. Midway through the contest, Anderson reached over the baseline to help James to his feet after a tumble, a moment captured on the arena video board and quickly shared on social media.
Asked about the interaction in his postgame press conference, James kept the joke alive. “I told him it was good to see him — that’s my fourth child,” he laughed. “Him and Bronny are twins and we’ve been trying to keep it quiet for a long time.” James then shifted to praise, calling Anderson an “unbelievable football player” who has earned “everything he’s got.” He emphasized, again jokingly, that no disrespect was intended toward Anderson’s actual parents.
Appreciating the Moment
The 41-year-old superstar also reflected on advancing past the opening round with a roster still gelling. “At this stage of my career I’m OK celebrating the small victories,” James said. He noted the Lakers’ ability to handle “obstacles” such as the absence of their MVP candidate and guard Austin Reaves for part of the series. “For them to allow me to lead means a lot to me,” he added.
The Lakers move on to the Western Conference semifinals, while Anderson returns to offseason workouts fresh off a lucrative contract extension announced earlier this spring.
