The Philadelphia 76ers kept their season alive Thursday night, defeating the Boston Celtics 106-93 in Game 6 at Wells Fargo Center to knot their Eastern Conference semifinal at 3-3.

Philadelphia controlled the contest from the opening tip and never trailed. Guard Tyrese Maxey poured in 30 points without committing a turnover in nearly 40 minutes, while Paul George added 23 in what teammates described as one of his most complete performances with the club. Joel Embiid flirted with a triple-double and anchored both ends of the floor.

“I’m tired of losing to them,” Embiid said, according to ESPN’s Tim Bontemps. “We have a chance to accomplish something special.” The All-Star center is 0-3 in playoff series against Boston, and the Celtics have eliminated Philadelphia in six consecutive postseason meetings.

The Sixers, who rallied from a 3-1 series deficit for the first time in franchise history, will try to alter that narrative in a decisive Game 7 Saturday at TD Garden.
