The Denver Nuggets on Wednesday confirmed a series of coaching moves headlined by the arrival of Jared Dudley as lead assistant to head coach David Adelman.
Dudley, 40, joins the defending champions after four seasons on the Dallas Mavericks’ bench. The 14-year NBA veteran reportedly chose Denver over offers from Memphis and Cleveland.
Another former Mavericks assistant, J.J. Barea, will also work under Adelman. The 2011 NBA champion served as a player-development coach in Dallas during the 2021-22 campaign and most recently coached the Guaynabo Mets in Puerto Rico before being dismissed in May.
Mike Moser arrives after two seasons as an assistant with the Houston Rockets and one year as a player-enhancement coach in Boston. His résumé also includes stints with the Mavericks, the University of Oregon women’s program, and clubs in Lithuania, Israel, Kosovo, Qatar, Finland and France.
Chase Buford, fresh off an assistant role at the University of Kansas, brings head-coaching experience from Australia’s NBL, where he guided the Sydney Kings to back-to-back titles, and from the NBA G League’s Wisconsin Herd.
Rodney Billups, younger brother of Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups, transitions from a scouting post with the Brooklyn Nets. He previously spent three seasons as a Trail Blazers assistant and one as a scout for the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Nuggets also promoted Andrew Munson to assistant coach and hired Ben Potts as head video coordinator and player-development coach.
