New York Knicks guard Miles McBride is continuing his recovery after a recent surgical procedure, embracing a “no excuses” approach he believes the team requires.
The 23-year-old said the operation, completed earlier this offseason, has not altered his determination to prepare for the 2026-27 campaign. “I’m doing everything the trainers ask and more,” he noted, stressing that his focus is on returning to full strength as quickly as possible.
McBride, who averaged 8.6 points and 3.4 assists last season, has been a steady presence in the team’s practice facility since the procedure. According to the Knicks, his rehabilitation program includes daily strength work and on-court shooting sessions tailored to protect the healing area.
While the team did not provide a specific timetable for full clearance, McBride said he expects to participate in team activities without limitations once medical staff approves. “Whatever the schedule is, there won’t be any excuses,” he said. “I’ll be ready when my number is called.”
Head coach Tom Thibodeau praised the guard’s mindset, calling it “exactly what we need” as the Knicks aim to build on last season’s playoff push. Teammates added that McBride’s example has set a tone of accountability throughout voluntary workouts.
The Knicks open training camp in late September, followed by preseason play in early October.
