Houston Rockets forward Kevin Durant has been cleared to play in Tuesday’s Game 2 of the Western Conference first-round series against the Los Angeles Lakers, the team announced Monday night.
The 37-year-old missed Game 1 with a bruised knee tendon suffered during practice on Wednesday. Durant was spotted taking pre-game shots ahead of the second matchup, and head coach Ime Udoka said there will be no minutes restriction if the 13-time All-Star takes the floor.
“The pain tolerance is one thing, but actually moving and feeling comfortable doing all the movements is going to be the biggest thing,” Udoka said earlier Monday when discussing Durant’s recovery.
Durant averaged a team-best 26.0 points per game in the regular season, and Houston struggled offensively without him in Saturday’s 107-98 loss. The Rockets shot below 40 percent from the field despite attempting 27 more shots than Los Angeles.
The best-of-seven series continues Tuesday night at Toyota Center.
