The San Antonio Spurs made a unified fashion statement on Sunday, arriving for Game 1 of their first-round playoff series against the Portland Trail Blazers in matching all-black suits.

Players filed into Frost Bank Center dressed head-to-toe in black, with some adding dark ties or sunglasses. Forward Kelly Olynyk, who joined the club last summer, proposed the idea, according to the team. Olynyk completed his look with a backward cap and shades.

Rookie guard Dylan Harper noted it was his first time wearing a suit since draft night in June. Top pick Victor Wembanyama, fellow rookie Carter Bryant and the rest of the roster followed the dress code, giving the group a cohesive appearance before tipoff.

“We’ve got to get this thing started right,” center Bismack Biyombo told ESPN when asked about the wardrobe choice.

Sunday’s contest marks San Antonio’s first home playoff game since a Game 6 victory over the Denver Nuggets on April 25, 2019. The Spurs finished the regular season 62-20, securing the Western Conference’s No. 2 seed—their highest win total since the 67-win campaign in 2015-16. The franchise is seeking its first series win since 2017.
