Brooklyn center Day’Ron Sharpe gave up his right to veto a trade in the second season of his new two-year contract with the Nets, according to information obtained by Hoops Rumors.
Players who re-sign on one-year agreements or two-year pacts with an option year normally receive an implicit no-trade clause, but teams can request that it be surrendered. By agreeing to the waiver, Sharpe would forfeit his Bird rights if he is moved before February’s trade deadline.
Although the 22-year-old re-signed for more than the minimum and received a raise exceeding 20 percent, he becomes trade-eligible on December 15 rather than January 15 because Brooklyn remained under the salary cap when the contract was finalized.
Additional Contract Notes
E.J. Liddell – The former Ohio State forward accepted a one-year two-way deal with Brooklyn that carries a partial guarantee of $85,300.
Olivier-Maxence Prosper – The Grizzlies signed the forward to a one-year two-way contract featuring the same $85,300 partial guarantee. That amount will rise to $318,218—exactly 50 percent of his full two-way salary of $636,435—if he is on the roster on opening night.
Garrison Brooks – The Pelicans brought in the big man on a non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 pact. He will earn a bonus of $85,300 if waived and subsequently spends at least 60 days with New Orleans’ G League affiliate, the Birmingham Squadron.
Alex Schumacher – The Suns added and quickly released the guard on an Exhibit 10 contract that includes a $20,000 bonus should he log 60 or more days with the G League’s Valley Suns.
