Brooklyn Nets general manager Sean Marks said Monday that the front office is prepared to pursue roster moves if the right opportunities arise, underscoring a strategy of flexibility after two difficult seasons.

Speaking to reporters, Marks noted that the club’s approach “depends a little on what becomes available,” adding that Brooklyn has positioned itself “to be able to be opportunistic.” The Nets have finished a combined 46-118 over the past two years and do not control their own 2027 first-round pick, reducing the incentive to enter another full rebuild.

Marks stressed that any transaction must align with the organization’s timetable and with head coach Jordi Fernández’s developing young core. He said potential deals will be vetted internally with Fernández and team ownership, including governor Joe Tsai.

The Nets also face a looming contract decision on forward Michael Porter Jr., who is entering the final season of his current agreement. Porter is extension-eligible this summer and is scheduled to earn $40.8 million in 2026-27; without a new deal, he could become an unrestricted free agent in 2027. Marks acknowledged that Porter’s future is among “a variety of decisions” Brooklyn must address during the offseason.

For now, Marks indicated the franchise will keep all options open while weighing both immediate upgrades and long-term considerations.
