NEW YORK — The New York Knicks scratched center Karl-Anthony Towns from Friday night’s matchup with the Chicago Bulls due to a right elbow impingement.

Towns went through his usual pregame shooting routine in good spirits, but paused near the visitors’ bench, grabbed his right elbow and then headed to the locker room. Minutes later, the team confirmed he would not play.

The three-time All-Star is averaging 20.1 points and 11.9 rebounds this season. With Towns unavailable, coach Tom Thibodeau inserted Mitchell Robinson into the starting lineup.
