The New York Knicks said they are taking new steps to make sure playoff tickets land in the hands of genuine fans rather than bulk resellers. Although specific details were not immediately released, the organization confirmed it is tightening sales procedures ahead of the upcoming postseason.
Team officials noted that the adjustments will apply to all rounds of the Eastern Conference playoffs at Madison Square Garden. The move follows widespread complaints from supporters who reported difficulty securing seats during previous postseason runs because large blocks of tickets were quickly acquired and listed on secondary markets at significant mark-ups.
An internal review, according to the Knicks, highlighted patterns of automated purchases and high-volume transactions that limited availability for individual buyers. To address those issues, the club indicated it will increase identity verification during checkout, cap the number of tickets per transaction, and monitor transactions in real time to flag suspicious activity.
Fans who have already registered for the team’s official email list will receive first access to presale windows. Remaining inventory will then be offered through the Madison Square Garden box office and the Knicks’ authorized digital platform. The club stressed that no physical tickets will be distributed at will-call without matching photo identification.
The Knicks are scheduled to open the first round later this month. Exact dates and opponent will be determined once regular-season standings are finalized.
