The Phoenix Suns have waived guard Alex Schumacher one day after signing him to an Exhibit 10 contract, Keith Smith of Spotrac reported on September 5, 2025.
The move positions the 6-foot-3 guard to join the organization’s G League affiliate, the Valley Suns. Under Exhibit 10 rules, Schumacher can receive an $85,300 bonus if he remains with the affiliate for at least 60 days, supplementing his standard G League salary.
Schumacher, 23, played two seasons at Seattle University and went undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft. As a G League rookie last year, he split time between the Valley Suns and the Windy City Bulls, averaging 9.2 points and 3.1 assists.
The sign-and-waive approach is commonly used throughout the league to keep developing players within a team’s system while offering greater financial incentives than a typical G League deal.
