DETROIT — Pistons rookie wing Ausar Thompson has turned relentless film study into elite on-court defense. According to team observers, the 23-year-old routinely remains in uniform after every game to rewatch the full contest before heading to the showers. “I watch it immediately after because the emotions are still there,” Thompson said earlier this season. Teammate Cade Cunningham added that Thompson’s habit often delays the team’s departure, noting, “He has to see the highest-level scorers every night. He takes his job seriously.”
Thompson currently ranks in the 99th percentile among wings in steal percentage and the 96th percentile in block rate. To qualify for All-Defensive consideration, he must log at least 20 minutes in seven of Detroit’s final eight games to reach the 65-game threshold.
Pistons Clear Stewart for On-Court Work
Detroit also received encouraging news on Isaiah Stewart’s strained calf. Head coach J.B. Bickerstaff said the forward has been cleared for on-court activities, describing the process as “day-to-day” with no firm return date. Stewart’s extended absence will keep him short of the league’s availability requirement for All-Defense voting.
Dillingham Still Fighting for Bulls Future
Twenty-two straight appearances have not eased guard Rob Dillingham’s mind about his long-term place in Chicago. “I don’t feel comfortable at all,” he told local media. “I don’t feel like I’ve proven anything.” The 20-year-old arrived from Minnesota in the Ayo Dosunmu trade and is under contract through 2026-27, but the Bulls hold several decisions on a crowded young backcourt.
Miller Embraces Larger Chicago Role
Forward Leonard Miller has shifted from a fringe piece in Minnesota to a reliable Bulls contributor, averaging 13.1 points and 7.0 rebounds over his last 10 games while logging 26.5 minutes a night. “I wanted to carve out a role with this group,” the 20-year-old said. Miller credited rookie Matas Buzelis, a former G League Ignite teammate, for helping him adapt quickly to the new surroundings.
