The Los Angeles Lakers will face the Washington Wizards on Monday night without Luka Doncic, Marcus Smart and Adou Thiero, according to the club’s official injury report.
Doncic will serve a mandatory one-game suspension after receiving his 16th technical foul of the season during Friday’s win over the Brooklyn Nets. The league upheld the call, triggering the automatic ban.
Smart is sidelined for a fourth consecutive contest with a right ankle contusion, while Thiero will miss his third straight game because of left knee soreness. Head coach JJ Redick has labeled both players day-to-day.
Monday marks the first half of a back-to-back set for Los Angeles, which hosts the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday. Doncic will be eligible to return for that matchup.
The Lakers have eight regular-season games remaining as they push for Western Conference playoff positioning. If Doncic collects two more technical fouls after he returns, he would draw an additional one-game suspension with seven games left on the schedule.
