Nekias Duncan’s All-Defense selections
Yahoo Sports contributor Nekias Duncan released his March 27 projections for the NBA’s two All-Defensive teams. His first unit features Victor Wembanyama, Chet Holmgren, Rudy Gobert, Bam Adebayo and Derrick White. The second team includes Cason Wallace, Stephon Castle, Dyson Daniels, Scottie Barnes and Marcus Smart.
Duncan listed nine additional players as honorable mentions, a group headlined by reigning Defensive Player of the Year Evan Mobley. He added that Ausar Thompson would replace Smart if the Detroit forward meets eligibility rules by logging at least 20 minutes in seven of the Pistons’ final eight games. Smart’s own availability could also be an issue under the 65-game standard.
G League playoff field finalized
The NBA G League confirmed its 16-team postseason bracket in a press release. The Osceola Magic (26-10) secured the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference, while the South Bay Lakers (26-10) earned the top spot in the West. All rounds are single elimination until the best-of-three Finals.
Osceola and the Stockton Kings (23-13), the West’s third seed, met in last season’s championship series, with Stockton capturing the title.
Acuff drawing top-three buzz
Arkansas guard Darius Acuff Jr., projected by most outlets as a top-nine pick, is viewed by one NBA general manager as the third-best prospect in the 2026 draft class behind BYU’s AJ Dybantsa and North Carolina’s Caleb Wilson, according to Marc J. Spears of Andscape.
Razorbacks head coach John Calipari, who has mentored numerous future NBA stars, told Andscape that passing on the freshman first-team All-American would be a mistake. “Pass on him, you’ll regret it,” Calipari said, comparing the situation to previous warnings he issued about Tyrese Maxey and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
Fertitta family purchasing Connecticut Sun
Houston Rockets owner Tillman Fertitta and his family have reached an agreement to buy the WNBA’s Connecticut Sun for $300 million and relocate the franchise to Houston, ESPN’s Alexa Philippou confirmed. PaperCity Magazine first reported the deal.
The Sun will complete the 2026 season in Connecticut before moving in 2027, when the club is expected to revive the “Houston Comets” name. The original Comets played in the WNBA from 1997 to 2008.
