Timberwolves star guard Anthony Edwards is expected to be available for Monday’s road game against the Mavericks, provided he completes a workout Sunday and passes a shoot-around assessment the following morning. Head coach Chris Finch has kept the 22-year-old sidelined for the last six contests while he managed patellofemoral pain syndrome in his right knee.
“We can’t relax now that Ant’s coming back and just hand him the keys,” point guard Mike Conley said. “We’ve got to keep pushing the pace and involve everybody. That’s when we’re at our best.”
Edwards was cleared for on-court work Friday. To reach the 65-game threshold required for postseason awards, he must play in each of Minnesota’s remaining eight regular-season outings. The two-time second-team All-NBA selection is again in the mix for 2025/26 honors if he qualifies.

Pelicans impressed with Karlo Matkovic
Second-year forward/center Karlo Matkovic has become a key reserve for New Orleans. Interim coach James Borrego praised the 2022 No. 52 overall pick for his energy, versatility, and shooting range. “Those guys are hard to find in the NBA,” Borrego said, noting Matkovic’s ability to defend multiple positions, finish at the rim, and protect it. The Pelicans hold a $2.3 million team option on him for the 2026/27 season.
Thunder’s McCain focused on stretch run
Thunder guard Jared McCain discussed his role when Oklahoma City is at full strength and the club’s race with San Antonio for the Western Conference’s top seed. The Thunder lead the Spurs by two games, with both teams facing eight remaining matchups.
