Golden State Warriors wing Moses Moody was taken off the court on a stretcher after sustaining a non-contact injury to his left knee late in Monday night’s 137-131 overtime victory against the Dallas Mavericks.

The incident occurred with 1:13 remaining in overtime at American Airlines Center. Moody intercepted a pass from Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg and headed for an uncontested dunk, but his knee buckled as he planted. He collapsed beneath the basket while play continued until the next whistle.

Team personnel and medical staff surrounded the fifth-year guard before arena workers brought out a stretcher. Forward Draymond Green embraced Moody, and Stephen Curry sat on the bench with his head in his hands as the 22-year-old was wheeled to the locker room.

Postgame X-rays were inconclusive, according to the Warriors. Moody will travel back to the Bay Area with the team and undergo an MRI on Tuesday to determine the severity of the damage.

‘It sure looked bad’

“We don’t know what it is, but it sure looked bad,” head coach Steve Kerr told reporters. “Just hoping for the best.” Kerr added that Moody “is such a great human being… wonderful guy to coach” and praised his 23-point, three-steal performance against Dallas.

The injury comes amid a string of health setbacks for Golden State. Veteran wing Jimmy Butler suffered a torn ACL on Jan. 7 in a loss to the Miami Heat and is out for the season. Curry has missed 22 straight games with a persistent right knee issue, and center Al Horford is sidelined by a calf strain. The Warriors, now 34-38, occupy the final spot in the Western Conference play-in race.

Moody is averaging a career-best 11.9 points while starting 49 of 60 games this season. He is in the first year of a three-year, $39 million extension signed before last season.
