Prime Video will debut the feature-length documentary Jerry West: The Logo on April 16, offering a comprehensive look at the life and career of Los Angeles Lakers legend Jerry West, whose silhouette remains the NBA’s official logo.
The film is produced and directed by Emmy Award winner Kenya Barris and comes from Propagate and Khalabo Ink Society. It will stream exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories.
Jerry West: The Logo includes West’s final on-camera interviews before his death in 2024. The documentary also features commentary from Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and members of West’s family, among others.
The project examines West’s pursuit of perfection on and off the court, addressing his public triumphs and private struggles, including battles with depression and the impact on his marriage and relationships with his children.
West’s résumé spans induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as both player and executive. A 14-time All-Star with more than 25,000 career points and one NBA championship, he later built multiple championship rosters as Lakers general manager, most notably the Showtime teams of the 1980s and the Kobe Bryant–Shaquille O’Neal squads of the early 2000s. He also played a pivotal role in shaping the Golden State Warriors dynasty of the late 2010s and early 2020s.
Executive producers are Mychelle Deschamps and Hale Rothstein for Khalabo Ink Society; Ben Silverman, Howard T. Owens, Drew Buckley, Isabel San Vargas, and Linh Le for Propagate; along with Steven Leckart and E Brian Dobbins. Jamie Nelsen and Susana Santiago serve as producers.
