Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick credited a revamped second-half defense for the team’s 100-92 comeback victory over the Houston Rockets, a result that extended Los Angeles’ winning streak to six games and tightened its grip on the Western Conference’s third seed.

The Lakers trailed by double digits in the third quarter before a series of halftime adjustments focused on limiting Kevin Durant swung momentum. According to Redick, the plan centered on forcing the ball out of Durant’s hands and challenging Houston’s small, defensive-minded lineup.

“They make you match their physicality or fold,” Redick said postgame. “We didn’t fold.” The strategy paid off: Los Angeles forced nine fourth-quarter turnovers and held Durant to two points on 1-for-5 shooting with six giveaways after intermission.

Despite an off night from long range, the Lakers matched Houston on the glass, fought for loose balls and leaned on collective defense to erase the deficit. The win moved the club to six straight victories with a rematch against the Rockets scheduled for Wednesday.

Redick also praised LeBron James for embracing a reduced ball-handling role while Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves orchestrate the offense, calling the veteran’s willingness to adapt a key factor in the team’s late-season surge.
