Golden State forward Jonathan Kuminga and the Warriors have yet to reach a new contract, leaving the restricted free agent unsigned while training camp approaches.

League sources told NBC Sports Bay Area that Kuminga is leaning toward accepting his $7.9 million qualifying offer, a move that would keep him in San Francisco for 2024-25 and send him into unrestricted free agency in 2026.

The Warriors have offered a two-year, $45 million package with a team option on the second season. Kuminga’s representatives want that option switched to the player’s side, and neither party has budged.

If Kuminga takes the qualifying offer, he gains a de-facto no-trade clause next season and Golden State would lose his Bird rights, creating the possibility he departs with no compensation. An injury or diminished role under coach Steve Kerr, however, could reduce the 21-year-old’s market value.

The impasse has also stalled the rest of the roster shuffle. The Warriors currently hold nine standard contracts—only seven fully guaranteed—plus one two-way slot filled and two unsigned draft picks. Club officials are expected to delay additional moves until Kuminga’s status is resolved.

Earlier this summer, the Kings and Suns explored sign-and-trade scenarios for Kuminga, but Golden State declined to engage, signaling a preference to keep the former No. 7 overall pick—just not on the terms he seeks.
