The Dallas Mavericks have signed forward P.J. Washington to a four-year, $90 million contract extension that will keep him with the club through the 2029-30 season, agent Kevin Bradbury told ESPN.
Washington became eligible for an extension late last month. League insider Marc Stein reported in August that both sides were already moving toward a new agreement.
The 27-year-old delivered career-best numbers in 2023-24, averaging 14.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.1 blocks while shooting 38 percent from three-point range. He started 57 games and played a pivotal role in Dallas’s run to the 2024 NBA Finals, including key moments against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference semifinals.
Despite a crowded frontcourt that includes No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg, Anthony Davis, Dereck Lively II, Daniel Gafford and Dwight Powell—as well as forwards Naji Marshall and Caleb Martin—general manager Nico Harrison has repeatedly described Washington as a cornerstone piece. The new deal formalizes that commitment.
