Salt Lake City, UT — The Utah Jazz will be without starting guard Keyonte George for at least the next two weeks after he was diagnosed with a Grade 2 strain of his right hamstring, according to multiple league sources.
ESPN’s Tim Bontemps first reported the injury timeline, which was later confirmed by The Athletic. The 22-year-old will be reevaluated after the two-week mark.
George exited Wednesday’s loss to the New York Knicks after 20 minutes on the floor, finishing with 14 points, five assists and two rebounds before team trainers ruled him out. Post-game imaging revealed the extent of the strain.
In his third NBA season, the 16th overall pick from the 2023 draft is averaging 23.6 points, 6.1 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.1 steals while shooting .456 from the field, .371 from three and .892 at the foul line across 54 games (33.1 minutes per game).
Because Utah exercised his fourth-year team option, George will be eligible to negotiate a rookie-scale extension this summer. If no agreement is reached, he would become a restricted free agent in 2027.
With George sidelined, head coach Will Hardy is expected to look to Isaiah Collier and Elijah Harkless for additional backcourt minutes. The injury further depletes a 20-46 Jazz roster already missing Walker Kessler, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Jusuf Nurkic for the remainder of the season.
