Perth, Australia — Dylan Windler has re-upped with the Perth Wildcats but says the contract is only a step toward his real goal: returning to the NBA.
“I want to play at the highest level and get back to the NBA,” the former Cleveland Cavaliers first-round pick told ESPN’s Olgun Uluc. “If you play well here, you’re always in a position to get back there.”
Windler, 27, has logged 101 NBA appearances with the Cavaliers, Knicks, Lakers and Hawks, averaging 3.2 points and 2.1 rebounds.
Wildcats Keep Final Import Slot Open
Perth still holds one open import spot and has spoken with several ex-NBA guards, according to Uluc. Zavier Simpson and Jahmir Young were on the short list before signing elsewhere, while Emmanuel Mudiay is still weighing options. More recently, Kobi Simmons and Yuri Collins have entered the conversation.
Veteran guard Patrick Beverley also expressed interest in joining the Wildcats, but the club did not pursue talks in earnest.
NBA Teams Track Talent at NBL Blitz
This year’s NBL Blitz, moved from the Gold Coast to Canberra, drew representatives from 12 NBA franchises despite a shorter schedule. Projected 2026 lottery pick Karim Lopez sat out with a back issue, yet scouts focused on several other prospects.
- Dash Daniels, younger brother of Atlanta Hawks guard Dyson Daniels
- Perth guard Ben Henshall
- South East Melbourne Phoenix forward Malique Lewis
Jaylin Galloway, who had a two-way stint with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2024 before returning to the Sydney Kings, also attracted considerable attention. Evaluators monitored whether his strong FIBA Asia Cup showing translates into another shot at the NBA.
