Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey has been diagnosed with a tendon injury in his right little finger and will be reexamined in three weeks, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The injury occurred Saturday during the Sixers’ matchup with the Atlanta Hawks. Maxey underwent imaging and met with specialists before the timeline was set.
Philadelphia is already playing without stars Joel Embiid and Paul George. The club has dropped nine of its past 14 games and entered Tuesday in eighth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
Maxey is posting career highs of 29.0 points and 6.7 assists per game in his second All-Star season. The three-week absence will sideline him for at least 11 contests and could jeopardize his eligibility for end-of-season awards.
The Sixers plan to provide an update after the three-week evaluation period.
