Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks was arrested early Friday on suspicion of driving under the influence following a traffic stop in Scottsdale, Arizona, authorities said.
According to Scottsdale police, officers pulled Brooks over at roughly 1 a.m. An on-scene investigation led to his arrest, after which he was taken to jail. The 30-year-old was released at about 3:30 a.m. upon completion of the booking process.
“We are aware of the situation involving Dillon Brooks and are gathering more information,” the Suns said in a statement provided to ESPN. “We have no further comment at this time.”
Brooks has missed Phoenix’s last five games with a fractured left hand suffered in a Feb. 21 victory over the Orlando Magic. The team expects him to return near the end of the regular season.
In his first season with the Suns, the forward is averaging 20.9 points—an increase of 6.9 points over last year—along with 3.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists and one steal per game. Brooks arrived in Phoenix as part of the offseason trade that sent 15-time All-Star Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets.
