The Denver Nuggets reshuffled their two-way roster spot on Wednesday, waiving guard Tamar Bates and signing forward David Roddy to a two-way deal, the team confirmed.
Roddy, who turns 25 later this month, was the 23rd overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. He has appeared in 168 regular-season games with the Grizzlies, Suns, Hawks, 76ers and Rockets. The former Colorado State standout spent 2025-26 in the G League with Raptors 905 after being released by Toronto at the end of training camp.
In 34 G League contests, the 6-foot-5 forward averaged 12.3 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.6 assists while shooting 47.5% from the field and 39.2% from three-point range. Roddy also impressed in February’s FIBA World Cup qualifying window, totaling 28 points on 9-of-12 shooting for Team USA in wins over the Dominican Republic and Mexico, including 20 points in the Mexico matchup.
Bates signed a two-way contract with Denver after going undrafted out of Missouri last summer. The 6-4 guard played 12 games for the Grand Rapids Gold, posting 19.6 points per game on .550/.442/.900 shooting, before undergoing surgery in December for a fractured left foot. He has not appeared in an NBA game.
Under two-way rules, Roddy can be active for up to 11 of Denver’s remaining regular-season games but is not eligible for the playoffs.
