KATOWICE, Poland — Luka Doncic produced the fifth recorded triple-double in EuroBasket history on Sunday, guiding Slovenia to an 86–69 victory over Belgium and their first win of Group D.

The Los Angeles Lakers guard finished with 26 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists, adding three steals in 34 minutes. He shot 9-for-23 overall and 2-for-11 from beyond the arc but controlled the game as a facilitator, allowing Slovenia to lead almost wire-to-wire. Belgium’s opening basket marked its only advantage of the afternoon.

Doncic scored seven of Slovenia’s 16 first-quarter points and had 19 by halftime, helping his team build a 43-31 cushion at the break. Belgium, which entered the tournament without NBA players, was paced by Andy Van Vliet’s 15 points and Emmanuel Lecomte’s 13.

The win moves Slovenia into a four-way tie atop Group D with four points. France and Poland, both 2-0, still have a game in hand and will gain at least one additional point when they meet later in the round. Israel, also 1-1, can pull even with Slovenia with a loss in its next outing or leapfrog them with a win.

Slovenia has two group games remaining. The next comes Tuesday against Iceland at 8:00 a.m. PT. Iceland sits at 0-2 and last in the group, while Slovenia carries a minus-1 point differential that could affect potential tiebreakers.
